Ashfall seen to affect areas south of Taal Volcano as wind direction changes

Taal's ash is expected to fall on areas south of the volcano starting on Wednesday.

According to GMA's resident meteorologist Nathaniel Cruz, this is due to the winds' change in direction.

When the volcano erupted on Sunday, the wind was moving north. However, the wind direction had changed to the southwest.

Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Quezon, and Central Luzon may partially be spared from ashfall. Ash now has a higher chance of affecting Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro, and Palawan.

Western Visayas may also be affected depending on the strength of the wind.

Continuous volcanic activity may also result in a rain cloud which may cause volcanic rain. —Joahna Lei Casilao/NB, GMA News
