Habagat to bring rain to parts of Luzon

The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat is expected to bring monsoon rains over the Ilocos Region and the provinces of Zambales and Bataan, according to PAGASA on Monday afternoon.

In its 4 p.m. bulletin, the weather bureau warned of possible flash floods or landslides  due to moderate with, at times, heavy rains.

Occasional rains may also prevail over Metro Manila, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, rest of Central Luzon, CALABARZON and MIMAROPA due to the southwest monsoon.

Meanwhile, localized thunderstorms may bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers over the Bicol Region, Visayas and Mindanao.

Flash floods and landslides are also possible in the said regions.

Moreover, the weather agency said strong winds and rough to very rough coastal water conditions will prevail in Northern Luzon and the western sections of Central and Southern Luzon, while moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough waters should be expected in the rest of the country.

At 3 p.m. on Monday, Tropical Storm Mekkhala, formerly Tropical Depression Ferdie, was estimated 350 kilometers west of Basco Batanes or 340 km northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

Earlier, PAGASA said Ferdie left through the northwestern boundary of the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 9 a.m. on Monday. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
