Habagat to bring cloudy skies, scattered rains over most of Luzon


The southwest monsoon or habagat will be affecting Luzon on Tuesday, PAGASA reported.

Ilocos Region, Batanes, Babuyan Group of islands, Zambales and Bataan will have occasional rains brought about by southwest monsoon with the possibility that flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate with at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region, Rest of Cagayan Valley, the rest of Central Luzon, and CALABARZON will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorm due to southwest monsoon. Flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas due to moderate with at times heavy rains.

The rest of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides may also occur, the bureau warned, during severe thunderstorms.

The weather bureau continues to monitor the Severe Tropical Storm Mekkhala (formerly Ferdie), which was spotted at 480 kilometers northwest of basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour gustiness up to 115 kph and moving northward at 25 kph.

A Tropical Depression was located 2,205 kilometers east northeast of extreme northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gustiness up to 70 kph moving westward at 25 kph.

The wind speed forecast for northern Luzon is strong moving in the southwest to south direction while coastal waters will be rough to very rough.

The rest of the country will have a moderate to strong wind speed moving in the southeast to south direction as coastal waters will remain moderate to rough.
