ITCZ to bring scattered rains, thunderstorms over Visayas, Mindanao, Bicol, MIMAROPA


The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will be affecting Visayas and Mindanao on Thursday, PAGASA reported.

The Visayas, Mindanao, Bicol Region, and MIMAROPA will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms brought about by the ITCZ with the possibility for flash floods or landslides to occur due to moderate with at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon Partly will have cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorm. Flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas during severe thunderstorms, the weather bureau warned.

Meanwhile, PAGASA continues to monitor an active Tropical Cyclone outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

The weather system, as of 2 a.m. on Thursday, is located 1,260 kilometers east northeast of extreme northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center with gustiness up to 55 kph and moving in the west southwest direction at 15 kph.

The wind speed forecast for Luzon is moderate moving in the east to southeast direction while coastal waters will remain moderate.

In the Visayas and Mindanao, the forecast is light to moderate and moving southeastward while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
