Widespread rains expected over Cagayan Valley, Aurora due to LPA, tail-end of frontal system
Cagayan Valley and Aurora will have cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms on Monday due to a low pressure area (LPA) and the tail-end of a frontal system affecting Extreme Northern Luzon, PAGASA said in its early morning forecast.
Flash floods or landslides may occur during moderate to heavy rains.
Palawan, Quezon and the rest of Northern Luzon will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough of LPA.
Landslides and flash floods may also be possible due to the rains which at times may be heavy.
The easterlies meanwhile will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Caraga and Davao Region.
Flash floods or landslides may also occur due to the rains which may be heavy at times.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms, with the possibility of flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
PAGASA is monitoring two LPAs inside the country.
At 3 a.m., one LPA was located 90 km east of Baler, Aurora.
The other one was at 235 km northwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. This LPA is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday, according to GMA resident meteorologist Nathaniel "Mang Tani" Cruz in a report on GMA's Unang Balita.
Coastal waters will be moderate to rough (with waves up to 4 meters) in the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern section of Central and Southern Luzon.
Visayas and the rest of Luzon will have slight to moderate seas, while Mindanao coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
Sunrise will be at 6:20 a.m. while sunset will be at 5:36 p.m. —KG, GMA News
