Bising still spawns rough to stormy seas over north Luzon
Rough to very rough sea conditions are expected over the northern Luzon seaboards as Typhoon Bising slightly weakens but accelerates moving northeastwards away from landmass, PAGASA said in its 11 a.m. update on Friday.
In its advisory, PAGASA said rough to very rough seas of 2.5 to 4.5 meters will be experienced over the northern seaboard of Luzon in the next 24 hours.
Moderate to rough seas of 1.5 to 3.0 meters meanwhile will be experienced over the eastern seaboards of Luzon.
Mariners of small sea crafts are advised not to venture out over the waters, and inexperienced seamen should avoid navigating in these conditions, PAGASA added.
Effects
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Friday, a total of 302,564 people or 75,448 families were affected by Typhoon Bising.
In an update, the NDDRM said the affected population was reported in 1,030 barangays in Cagayan, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga regions.
Of the total number, at least 12,228 persons or 2,870 families were staying in 170 evacuation centers, while 17,779 people or 4,479 families took shelter in the houses of their relatives and friends.
Four people have been reported dead, while 13 were wounded amid the onslaught of Bising, the NDRRMC said.
Bising's track, intensity outlook
Based on the forecast track, Typhoon Bising will move generally northeastwards until Friday night before turning east southeastward to eastward on Saturday (24 April) and eastward to east northeastward on Sunday (25 April) morning.
Bising is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday late evening or Sunday early morning.
The typhoon will continue to weaken throughout the remainder of the forecast period, and is seen to be downgraded to severe tropical storm category this Friday afternoon or night, and tropical storm category this Saturday before transitioning into an extratropical cyclone outside the PAR on Monday (26 April).
As of 10 a.m., the center of the eye of Typhoon Bising was located, based on all available data, at 715 km east-northeast of Basco, Batanes or 715 km east-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.
It is moving northeastwards at 25 kilometers per hour (km/h) with maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 150 km/h.
