PAGASA to use TikTok in cyclone awareness campaign

State weather bureau PAGASA on Monday said it will utilize popular video sharing application TikTok for its typhoon awareness campaign.

According to Victoria Tulad's report on Balitanghali, around 20 cyclones enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility every year. Of these, almost 10 make landfall.

Meanwhile, one to three cyclones enter PAR every June.

With this, PAGASA decided to launch a TikTok account to raise awareness on typhoons.

Dr. Vicente Malano, PAGASA administrator, said the weather agency will post infographics and videographics on TikTok to boost its information campaign.

PAGASA also reminded the public to monitor weather advisories to be prepared in case of cyclones.  —Ma. Angelica Garcia/KBK, GMA News
