According to PAGASA, Lannie already made landfall over Bucas Grande Island, Socorro, Surigao del Norte at 4:30 a.m. and Cagdianao, Dinagat Islands at 5:00 a.m.

Lannie will move generally west northwestward over the Visayas archipelago until Monday evening or Tuesday early morning, PAGASA said.

It may make another landfall in the vicinity of northern Palawan or Calamian Islands Tuesday morning before moving to the West Philippine Sea.

Moderate to heavy with at times intense rains are expected over Visayas, Bicol Region, Mimaropa, Calabarzon, and Caraga Region from Monday to Tuesday morning, PAGASA said.

Light to moderate with at times heavy rains may be experienced over Metro Manila, Bulacan, Bataan, and the rest of Mindanao, it added.

PAGASA warned of possible scattered flooding, including flash floods, and rain-induced landslides especially in areas that are prone to these hazards.

Strong winds with occasional gusts are expected in areas under Signal No. 1 during the passage of Lannie.

“ This may generally cause up to very light damage to structures and vegetation,” PAGASA said.

Due to the enhanced easterly flow north of the tropical depression, occasionally gusts reaching strong breeze to near gale in strength will be experienced over Extreme Northern Luzon and the coastal and upland/mountainous areas of the eastern section of Luzon in the next 24 hours.

Moderate to rough seas are expected over the coastal waters of the country, especially in areas under Signal No.1.

“These conditions are risky for those using small seacrafts. Mariners are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigating in these conditions,” PAGASA said.

At 7 a.m., Lannie was located over the coastal waters of Liloan, Southern Leyte with maximum sustained winds of 45 km per hour, gustiness of up to 55 km/h, and central pressure of 1002 hPa.

It is moving west northwestward at 15 km/h.

Lannie has strong winds or higher that are extending outwards up to200 km from the center.

It is expected remain a tropical depression, but may possibly intensify once over the Sulu Sea or West Philippine Sea, PAGASA said.

It will move generally northwestward over the West Philippine Sea by late Tuesday through early Thursday.

Lannie may likely be upgraded into a tropical storm by Wednesday early morning, according to PAGASA.

According to PAGASA, Lannie is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday morning. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA News
