Warm weather expected in parts of country over weekend


The easterlies is expected to cause warmer temperatures in the country over the weekend, the weather bureau PAGASA has said.

According to Emil Sumangil's report on "24 Oras", a heat index of 46 degrees Celsius was observed at 2 p.m. in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

This weekend Dagupan City, Pangasinan is expected to have a heat index of 40 to 42 degrees Celsius while Tuguegarao and Cotabato City are seen to have 41 degrees Celsius.

Catbalogan and Borongan in Samar, and Tagbilaran in Bohol are expected to have a heat index of 39 to 40 degrees Celsius.

Metro Manila is expected to have a heat index of 36 degrees Celsius.

PAGASA said  there's still a chance of isolated rain showers in some parts of Luzon, such as Quezon, Aurora, Ilocos region, Pangasinan, Camarines provinces, Mindoro, and Palawan, on Saturday and Sunday.

Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region will also experience isolated rain showers on Sunday.

The chance of rain remains low in Metro Manila, but large parts of Visayas and Mindanao will experience rain.

PAGASA also warned of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms. —Sherylin Untalan/NB, GMA Integrated News
