PAGASA: Dangerous heat index expected in 15 areas on Monday


PAGASA predicted that the heat index would rise to dangerous levels in 15 areas of the country on Monday-April 22, 2024.

According to the weather service's Sunday-5 p.m. heat index forecast, the following areas would see the heat index rise to 42°C to 45°C:

  • Dagupan City, Pangasinan – 43°C
  • Aparri, Cagayan – 43°C
  • Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – 42°C
  • Infanta, Quezon - 44°C
  • Puerto Princesa City, Palawan – 44°C
  • Aborlan, Palawan – 44°C
  • Legazpi, Albay – 43°C
  • Virac (Synop), Catanduanes – 43°C
  • Masbate City, Masbate – 43°C
  • CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur – 45°C
  • Roxas City, Capiz – 42°C
  • Iloilo City, Iloilo – 42°C
  • Dumangas, Iloilo – 42°C
  • Catarman, Northern Samar – 42°C
  • Guiuan, Eastern Samar – 43°C

Heat indexes that rise to dangerous levels may cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion, as well as heat stroke, for individuals exposed to continuous heat.

PAGASA recommended limited outdoor activity, consistent hydration, and wearing fresh clothes to combat the effects of the heat. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
