‘Danger level’ heat index to hit 26 areas on Tuesday, April 22, 2025
A total of 26 areas will have a ''danger level'' heat index on Tuesday, April 22, according to PAGASA’s forecast released on Monday afternoon.
The synoptic station in San Ildefonso, Bulacan will have a heat index of up to 46°C.
Meanwhile, a heat index as high as 45°C is expected to hit Dagupan City, Pangasinan, and 44°C in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
A 43°C heat index is forecast to be measured by the weather stations in the following locations:
- Aparri, Cagayan
- ISU Echague, Isabela
- Baler (Radar), Aurora
- Cubi Pt., Subic Bay, Olongapo City
- Sangley Point, Cavite City, Cavite
- Puerto Princesa City, Palawan
- Aborlan, Palawan
- Cuyo, Palawan
- Dumangas, Iloilo
PAGASA also said the synoptic stations in the following areas will measure a 42°C heat index:
- Laoag City, Ilocos Norte
- Bacnotan, La Union
- Calayan, Cagayan
- Casiguran, Aurora
- Iba, Zambales
- TAU Camiling, Tarlac
- Hacienda Luisita, Tarlac City
- Coron, Palawan
- San Jose, Occidental Mindoro
- Masbate City, Masbate
- CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur
- BIA-Daraga, Albay
- Catarman, Northern Samar
- Zamboanga City, Zamboanga Del Sur
The state weather bureau categorizes areas with a 42°C to 51°C heat index in the "danger" category, with a risk for heat stroke.
The Department of Health advised Filipinos who have prolonged sun exposure to drink as much as 10 glasses of water daily, now that the heat index in parts of the country is expected to rise to a dangerous 50°C. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
