Habagat, LPA to bring more rains to parts of PH Monday
Rains are expected to continue across several areas in the country due to the low pressure area (LPA) and the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, PAGASA said Sunday.
According to the state weather bureau’s advisory released 11 p.m. on Sunday, 50 millimeters to 100 millimeters of rainfall is expected in Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Antique until Monday evening due to the Habagat.
“Localized flooding is possible mainly in areas that are urbanized, low lying, or near rivers. Landslide possible in highly susceptible areas,” the advisory read.
“Forecast rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas. Moreover, impacts in some areas may be worsened by significant antecedent rainfall,” it added.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms are also expected in the rest of Mindanao due to the Habagat, with PAGASA warning of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected in Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, and Albay, with possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains brought about by the LPA.
The LPA was estimated 220 kilometers east northeast of Infante, Quezon or 215 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora as of 3 p.m. on Sunday.
