Southwest Monsoon to prevail, bring rains


The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will prevail over the country on Monday and will bring rains, according to the weather forecast of PAGASA.

Metro Manila, Calabarzon, BARMM, Soccsksargen, Davao Region, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the monsoon. Moderate to at times heavy rains may possibly result in flash floods or landslides.

The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also due to the Habagat. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may result.

PAGASA is also monitoring a tropical depression located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

At 3 a.m., the tropical depression was located at 2,495 km east northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon.

It has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h.

The tropical depression is moving northwestward at 20 km/h.

The country is not yet affected by this tropical depression which is still outside PAR, according to a report on Unang Balita on Monday.

Meanwhile, coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the country.
