Habagat, trough of Severe Tropical Storm Danas to bring rains over PH

Severe Tropical Storm Danas (formerly Bising), July 6, 2025, 4AM

The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and trough of Severe Tropical Storm Danas (formerly Bising) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) will bring rains on Sunday throughout the country, PAGASA said.

Batanes and Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of Danas affecting Extreme Northern Luzon. Moderate to at times heavy rains may possibly result in flash floods or landslides.

At 3 a.m. Sunday, Danas was located 400 km west of Itbayat, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h near the center and with gustiness of up to 135 km/h.

Danas is moving north northeastward slowly toward Taiwan.

It has no direct effect on the country, but PAGASA said there may still be a possibility it will reenter PAR tonight or early tomorrow morning, according to DOST-PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina.

Bising may also intensify into a typhoon and possibly make landfall over mainland China on Tuesday, he added.

Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon is affecting the rest of the country on Sunday.

The Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan will have occasional rains, with the possibility of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, and the rest of Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon may expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. Moderate to at times heavy rains may possibly result in flash floods or landslides.

The rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may occur.

Coastal waters will be rough in Extreme Northern Luzon, and moderate to rough in the western section of Central Luzon and the rest of Northern Luzon.

The rest of the country will have slight to moderate coastal waters.
