LPA, Habagat to bring rain over parts of PH

The low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility and Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will bring cloudy skies and rain in several areas in the country, PAGASA said Sunday afternoon.

Based on its 4 p.m. weather forecast, the state weather bureau said the LPA will affect the weather conditions of Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Quezon, and Rizal.

At 2 p.m., the LPA was located 675 kilometers east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

PAGASA maintained that the LPA has a “low” possibility of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the Habagat will affect the weather conditions of Metro Manila, MIMAROPA, Zamboanga Peninsula, Camiguin, Surigao del Norte, and Dinagat Islands, the rest of Visayas, the rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of CALABARZON.

The rest of Northern Mindanao and the rest of Caraga will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the Habagat.

The same weather conditions will persist throughout the rest of the country due to the localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned that these weather conditions may trigger flash floods or landslides.

State meteorologists also said Mindanao, the western section of Visayas, and the western section of Luzon will experience moderate wind and coastal water conditions.

Winds will be light to moderate, while coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the rest of Luzon and Visayas.

Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 5:44 a.m. on Monday. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
