LPA embedded in ITCZ to bring scattered rains over some areas

LPA embedded in ITCZ to bring scattered rains over some areas

A low pressure area (LPA) embedded along an Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will bring scattered rains over some areas on Sunday, PAGASA said in its weather forecast.

Caraga, Davao Region, Northern Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, Albay, Masbate, and Sorsogon will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the LPA. Flash floods or landslides may result due to moderate to heavy rains.

At 3 a.m., the LPA was estimated to be located at 210 km east of General Santos City, and is embedded along the ITCZ affecting Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao.

PAGASA said as of 8 a.m., this LPA is unlikely to become a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

The rest of Mindanao, the rest of Visayas, and Palawan may expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ. Moderate to at times heavy rains may possibly result in flash floods or landslides.

Meanwhile, a shear line is affecting Extreme Northern Luzon.

Batanes and Babuyan Islands will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the shear line. Flash floods or landslides may possibly occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Aurora and Quezon will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies. Moderate to at times heavy rains may possibly cause flash floods or landslides.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon on the other hand may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may possibly result.

Coastal waters will be moderate to rough in the northern and western sections of Northern Luzon, and slight to moderate in the rest of the country.
