PAGASA: LPA to bring cloudy skies, rains over Palawan, Visayas, Mindanao

Several parts of Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies, rains, and thunderstorms on Monday as a result of the low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, the state weather bureau said.

In its 4 a.m. public weather forecast on Oct. 27, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the LPA was spotted 260 kilometers west of Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte as of 3 a.m.

It remains embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao and still has a “low potential of development into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.”

MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and BARMM will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms on Monday as a result of the LPA, with the possibility of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Batanes and Babuyan Islands will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms as an effect of the shearline affecting extreme Northern Luzon.

Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Aurora, and Quezon will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms as an effect of the easterlies as well.

Meanwhile, the ITCZ in Mindanao will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms to the rest of Mindanao.

Northern Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal water conditions, while Central Luzon, the eastern section of Southern Luzon, the rest of Luzon, and the rest of the country will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal water conditions.
