PAGASA: LPA inside PAR no longer likely to become tropical depression

The low pressure area (LPA) being monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility is no longer likely to become a tropical depression in the next 24 hours, the state weather bureau said on Tuesday morning.

In its 4 a.m. public weather forecast for Oct. 28, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the LPA was last spotted 250 kilometers east of Pag-Asa Island in Kalayaan, Palawan as of 3 a.m.

The LPA remains embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone that is affecting Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao.

However, PAGASA said the LPA is “unlikely to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.”

On Tuesday, Palawan will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms as a result of the LPA.

Meanwhile, the Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and Dinagat Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms as an effect of the ICTZ.

The shearline affecting the eastern section of Northern Luzon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Cagayan.

Batanes will experience cloudy skies with rains due to the northeast monsoon, while the rest of Visayas and Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms because of the ITCZ.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms as a result of the easterlies.

PAGASA warned that flashfloods and landslides may be possible due to moderate to heavy rains or severe thunderstorms.

Extreme Northern Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal water conditions.

On the other hand, the western section of Southern Luzon, the rest of Luzon and Visayas, and Mindanao will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal water conditions.
