Tino was last spotted in the vicinity of Bacolod City, Negros Occidental (10.6°N, 122.9°E) packing maximum sustained winds of 140 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 195 km/h, and central pressure of 965 hPa.

PAGASA warned that the system continues to pose a severe threat to life and property across Western Visayas and the Negros Island Region.

Despite its slight weakening, Tino maintains a broad circulation, with strong to typhoon-force winds extending up to 300 kilometers from the center.

Tino is expected to continue crossing Western Visayas and northern Palawan before emerging over the West Philippine Sea by Wednesday morning, then exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Wednesday evening or early Thursday.

While Tino weakened slightly due to land interaction, PAGASA said it is forecast to remain a typhoon and could re-intensify over open waters.

Death toll

One person was reported dead while 59,918 persons or 17,124 families were affected due to the onslaught of Typhoon Tino, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Tuesday.

In its 6 a.m. situational report, NDRRMC said it is still validating the death of one unidentified woman.

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD), meanwhile, is validating reports of at least three deaths linked to Typhoon Tino as the Typhoon battered parts of the Visayas and Mindanao, triggering floods, power outages, and mass evacuations across several regions.
