Over 200 mm of rain from Uwan expected in 18 Luzon provinces starting Sunday night
Typhoon Uwan will dump more than 200 millimeters of rain in 18 Luzon provinces from Sunday night to Monday evening, PAGASA said in its heavy rainfall outlook issued at 11 p.m. on November 7.
These provinces include Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Zambales, Tarlac, and Pangasinan.
PAGASA said these areas may expect "widespread incidents of severe flooding and landslides."
Metro Manila, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, and Occidental Mindoro will see 100-200 mm of rain while Batanes, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Aklan, and Antique will receive 50-100 mm of rain.
"Forecast rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas. Moreover, impacts in some areas may be worsened by significant antecedent rainfall," PAGASA said.
Uwan is projected to make landfall over the southern portion of Isabela or the northern portion of Aurora on Sunday late evening or on Monday early morning.
It is predicted to rapidly intensify into a super typhoon by Saturday evening or Sunday morning. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
