Typhoon Uwan exits Luzon landmass, but Signal No. 4 still up over 12 areas
Although Typhoon Uwan weakened further as it exited the Luzon landmass early Monday morning, the state weather bureau has hoisted Signal No. 4 over 12 areas in Northern and Central Luzon.
In its 5 a.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, PAGASA said Uwan was spotted over the coastal waters of Bacnotan, La Union as of 4 a.m Monday, moving west northwestward at 25 km/h with maximum sustained winds of 150 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 230 km/h, and central pressure of 955 hPa.

The state weather bureau said “heavy rainfall, severe winds, and storm surge may still be experienced far from the landfall point or center track, and even in areas outside the forecast confidence cone.”
PAGASA said Uwan will continue moving west northwestward in the next 12 hours.
“Afterwards, while moving northwestward to northward over the West Philippine Sea, Uwan is forecast to re-intensify between tomorrow and Wednesday, November 12,” the state weather bureau added.
By Wednesday afternoon or evening, Uwan will begin to turn northeastward towards Taiwan Strait and may weaken further due to unfavorable environmental conditions. The center of Uwan will make landfall over western Taiwan by Thursday. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
