PAGASA: Rains, gusty winds in Ilocos Norte, Batanes due to Uwan


Severe Tropical Storm Uwan is expected to affect parts of northern Luzon, bringing rains and winds on Wednesday, PAGASA said.

In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the weather bureau said the tropical cyclone, which is now outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, is still being monitored.  It is now estimated at 290 kilometers west of Itbayat, Batanes, moving north northeastward at 10 kilometers per hour.

PAGASA said Ilocos Norte, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands will experience rains with gusty winds due to Uwan.

It warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains. Minimal to minor threat to life and property due to strong winds.

Cordillera Administrative Region and the rest of Ilocos Region will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms brought about by the trough of the severe tropical storm.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms from localized thunderstorms.
