WALANG PASOK: Malacañang suspends classes, government work in NCR, Luzon areas
Malacañang suspended classes and government work in the National Capital Region and several other Luzon areas on Wednesday, 3:00 p.m. onward due to the combined effects of Tropical Storm Maymay and the southwest monsoon.
In Memorandum Circular No. 121 signed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, the government suspended classes upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
Classes on all levels and government work have been suspended in the following areas:
- National Capital Region
- Abra
- Ilocos Sur
- La Union
- Benguet
- Pangasinan
- Zambales
“Agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services are hereby directed to continue their operations and render the necessary service,” the memorandum read.
The Palace has left the cancellation of classes in other areas to local government unit chiefs. Work in the private sector will be left to the discretion of their respective heads.
