A one-way traffic scheme will be enforced in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) beginning September 17 along key roads to improve traffic flow and lessen congestion.

Two routes will be observed in the new scheme: the first is a loop through 9th Avenue-34th Street-8th Avenue-7th Avenue-Federacion Drive, and the second, a loop from 28th Street-11th Avenue-30th Street-Rizal Drive.

Jun Galvez, Bonifacio Estate Services Corporation general manager, said Friday in a statement that the one-way traffic scheme is "the most efficient traffic circulation scheme for BGC’s street grid network."

"It maximizes the width of the street that is available for traffic, reduces the conflicts between vehicles and pedestrians at intersections, and minimizes the time that vehicles and pedestrians are stopped at traffic signals," Galvez explained.

Wheel clamping and towing operations against illegal street parking will continue as BGC continues to improve an app aimed to help motorists find parking space within the district, he added.

"Overall, BGC should become less congested and faster to travel in with a one-way traffic scheme," Galvez said. —Rie Takumi/KG, GMA News
