Part of Magallanes Interchange to be closed starting Monday, April 1, 2019
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Friday announced that a portion of the Magallanes Interchange will be closed to vehicular traffic starting Monday, April 1, 2019.
At 6 a.m. on April 1, the left-turning ramp on Magallanes Interchange from Manila to EDSA northbound going to Cubao will be closed.
The MMDA said the closure is part of the agency's traffic management plan to address traffic problems and vehicular accidents.
"Based on the MMDA Traffic Engineering Center’s vehicular volume count, around 7,722 vehicles are traversing the interchange from Manila to EDSA Northbound while 19,304 vehicles traverse from EDSA to Nichols (South Superhighway) that crisscross in the said portion, causing traffic gridlock and accidents," MMDA said.
"MMDA’s Road Safety Unit also recorded 360 road crash incidents in 2017 and 292 road crash incidents in 2018 along Magallanes Interchange," it added.
Motorists coming from Manila and going to EDSA northbound and Cubao are advised to use the Magallanes Loop/Magallanes Village or Nichols Interchange, the MMDA said. —KG, GMA News
