Skyway Alabang southbound entry reopens

The Skyway Alabang Toll Plaza southbound entry has been reopened to traffic this week, eight days ahead of schedule.

In an advisory on Monday, diversified conglomerate San Miguel Corp. said the toll plaza entry was reopened on Sunday, June 7, 2020.

The entry was closed to enable contractors to undertake construction works for the Skyway Extension Project and was initially scheduled to reopen on June 15.

"We want to assure the motoring public and government that the Skyway Extension Project will be finished at the soonest possible time," said SMC president and chief operating officer Ramon Ang.

"This is to demonstrate our commitment to continue to improve our facilities and services—no matter what the situation or circumstance is," he added.

The Skyway Extension Project was earlier scheduled to be completed by December this year, adding two northbound lanes and three southbound lanes.

The project will have a direct connection to Skyway 1, 2, and 3, and allow motorists from the south to head to Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Makati, Manila, San Juan, Quezon City, and the NLEX without having to pass by Alabang and EDSA. —Jon Viktor Cabuenas/KG, GMA News
