MMDA: Several Manila roads closed on Sunday for marathon event
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will implement on Sunday, June 19, road closures and rerouting in several parts of Manila to pave the way for a marathon event.
In a Facebook post, MMDA said the following roads will be closed at 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. onwards on the said date:
- Roxas Blvd. from Katigbak Drive to Pres. Quirino Avenue
- Bonifacio Drive from Anda Circle to Katigbak Drive
- Katigbak Drive and South Drive
- Independence Rd.
- P. Burgos Ave. from Roxas Blvd. to Jones Bridge
- Ma. Orosa St. from P. Burgos to Kalaw
- Finance Rd. from P. Burgos Avenue to Taft Avenue
- Northbound lane of Taft Avenue from Ayala Boulevard to P. Burgos Avenue
- Muralla St. from Sta. Lucia St. to Real St.
- Real St. from Muralla St. to Sta. Lucia St.
- Sta. Lucia St. from Real St. to Muralla St.
- Quintin Paredes St. from Jones Bridge to Ongpin St.
“Actual closing and opening of affected roads will be based on actual traffic situation,” the MMDA said.
As alternative routes for light vehicles, the agency advised motorists coming from the northbound lane of Taft Avenue intending to pass P. Burgos Avenue to turn right to Ayala Boulevard to point of destination.
Vehicles coming from Ma. Orosa St. intending to pass P. Burgos Avenue may also turn right to Kalaw Ave., to Taft Avenue to their point of destination.
Meanwhile, those coming from A. Mabini St. may turn right to Kalaw Ave. to Taft Ave. to their point of destination.
Vehicles coming from Pasay AOR that would use the northbound lane of Roxas Boulevard, on the other hand, may turn right to P. Ocampo St. to point of destination.
Light vehicles coming from Delpan Bridge may also turn left to A. Soriano Ave. to Magallanes Drive to point of destination.
For trucks and heavy vehicles, on the other hand, MMDA advised those coming from Delpan Bridge to turn around at Anda Circle to the northbound lane of Mel Lopez Boulevard to C-3 to point of destination.
Trailer trucks or heavy vehicles coming from President Quirino Avenue may also go straight to Nagtahan Bridge to Lacson Avenue to point of destination. —Giselle Ombay/KBK, GMA News
