DPWH: Iloilo road closed to traffic due to flood

A portion of a road in the municipality of Dingle in Iloilo was temporarily closed to traffic due to flood, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said Thursday.

“The road section along Pototan - Tabugon Road, K0041+800 - K0041+850, Barangay Tabugon, Dingle, Iloilo, is temporarily impassable for all types of vehicles due to rising flood waters (almost 1-meter depth),” the DPWH said in an advisory. 

The agency also said maintenance crews were deployed in the area to divert traffic.

State weather bureau PAGASA earlier said the low pressure area off Cuyo, Palawan and embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone would bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Palawan, Romblon, Masbate, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur. 

Rainfall advisory levels were likewise issued over parts of Visayas, with orange warning raised in areas in Negros Occidental including Himamaylan City, Kabankalan City, Ilog, Cauayan, Candoni, Sipalay City, Hinoba-an, and yellow warning in the southern portion of Iloilo, Guimaras, the rest of Negros Oriental and the southern portion of Antique. —Sundy Locus/VBL, GMA Integrated News
