Gov’t offers free MRT-3, LRT-1, LRT-2 rides on Dec. 20, 2024 as Christmas treat 

MRT-3, LRT-1 and LRT-2 rides will be free on Friday, December 20 as a Christmas offering from the government, an initiative subsidized by the Office of the President. 

“Ang inisyatibong ito ay isang simpleng paraan upang maibsan ang gastos ng ating mga kababayang abala sa paghahanda para sa Pasko,” President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. said in a statement. 

(This initiative is a simple way to help with the expenses of the public who are busy preparing for Christmas.) 

“Nawa’y magdulot ito ng ginhawa at maramdam ng lahat ang malasakit ng pamahalaan ngayong kapaskuhan," he added. 

(We hope that this would bring ease and everyone would experience the government’s care.) 

The free train ride is expected to benefit around 1.1 million passengers: 450,000 in MRT-3, 460,000 in LRT-1, and 200,000 in LRT-2.
