Road closure along Commonwealth Ave. on March 15 and 16, 2025

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Monday announced a road closure this coming weekend along Commonwealth Avenue to give way for the steel structure works at the MRT-7 Tandang Sora Station.

In a social media post, DOTr said the Commonwealth Avenue East Bound Lane from the University Avenue to the Tandang Sora Avenue will be temporarily closed from March 15 (Saturday) at 10 p.m. until March 16 (Sunday) 4 a.m.

During this period, the steel structure of the footbridge that will connect to the MRT-7 Tandang Sora Station will be installed.

“In light of this, everyone is advised to take alternative routes, as seen in the graphics below.,” DOTr said.

“We seek for the public’s cooperation and understanding for the temporary inconvenience, as the government works toward providing permanent convenience and comfort for the Filipino commuters, through enhanced public transport system,” it added.

The MRT-7's 22-kilometer stretch will have 14 stations: Quezon North Avenue Joint Station, Quezon Memorial Circle, University Avenue, Tandang Sora, Don Antonio, Batasan, Manggahan, Doña Carmen, Regalado, Mindanao Avenue, Quirino, Sacred Heart, Tala, and San Jose del Monte.

The DOTr earlier said that there will be partial operations at the stations from North Avenue Station to Quirino Station by late 2025.

Once in full operation, the MRT-7 is expected to reduce travel time from Quezon City to San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan to 35 minutes. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BM, GMA Integrated News
