Manila to close some roads for Chinese New Year 2026

The Manila local government unit (LGU) on Sunday released a traffic advisory for the celebration of this year’s Chinese New Year (Lunar New Year).

In a social media post, the Manila LGU said the following road sections will be closed from February 16 to 17 (Monday to Tuesday):

3:00 a.m. - Binondo-Intramuros Bridge
7:00 p.m. - Jones Bridge (southbound)
9:00 p.m - Jones Bridge (northbound)
10:00 p.m
- Plaza Lorenzo Ruiz u-turn access from Juan Luna St. to Quintin Paredes St.          
- Ongpin St. from Juan Luna St. to Quintin Paredes St.
- Stretch of Quintin Paredes St. from Dasmariñas St. to Escolta St.
- Jones Bridge
- Juan Luna St. from Dasmariñas St. to Muelle de la Industria
- Binondo-Intramuros Bridge
- Plaza Cervantes

 

The following rerouting schemes will also be implemented:

1. Vehicles from Juan Luna St. intending to use Jones Bridge (southbound) shall turn right to Dasmariñas St., then turn left  to Muelle de Binondo, then turn left to Muelle de la Industria, straight to Muelle Banco de Nacional going to Plaza Sta. Cruz to point of destination

2. Vehicles from P. Burgos Ave. (northbound) intending to use Jones Bridge shall go straight to MacArthur Bridge or Quezon Bridge to point of destination

3. Vehicles from Riverside Drive intending to use Binondo-Intramuros Bridge (northbound) shall proceed straight to A. Soriano Ave., continue to Anda Circle to point of destination

4. Vehicles from Muelle de la Industria intending to use Binondo-Intramuros Bridge (southbound) shall proceed straight to Muelle  Banco de Nacional going to Plaza Sta. Cruz to point of destination

5. Vehicles from San Fernando St. intending to use Plaza Cervantes to Jones Bridge (southbound) shall turn right to Dasmariñas St., then turn left to Muelle de Binondo, then turn left to Muelle de la Industria, straight to Muelle Banco de Nacional going to Plaza Sta. Cruz to point of destination

 

 

 

Another rerouting scheme will be implemented from the Manila Post Office to Lucky Chinatown Mall on February 17, Tuesday, 3 p.m. onwards:

- Turn right to Jones Bridge
- Turn right to Escolta Street
- Turn left to Plaza Sta. Cruz
- Turn left to Dasmariñas Street
- Turn right to Quintin Paredes Street
- Turn right to Ongpin Street
- Turn left to Sabino Padilla Street
- Turn left to Soler Street
- Turn left to Reina Regente Street
- Proceed to Lucky Chinatown Mall

 

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has announced the suspension of the expanded number coding scheme on February 17 in light of the Chinese New Year celebration.
