LRT-1 to suspend ops from Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday, April 2 to 5
The Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) announced Tuesday that the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) will temporarily suspend operations for four days during the upcoming Holy Week to allow maintenance and system upgrades.
Train services will stop from April 2, Maundy Thursday, to April 5, Easter Sunday, according to LRMC.
The rail operator said the suspension will allow their personnel to conduct inspections and carry out necessary maintenance work to ensure the safety and reliability of the line.
The company noted that the activities are part of its annual Holy Week maintenance program, which enables engineers to perform more extensive checks and upgrades beyond the routine daily inspections.
Regular operations of LRT-1 will resume on April 6, Monday.
LRMC advised passengers to plan their trips ahead of time and consider alternative transportation during the four-day shutdown.
LRT-2 and MRT-3 have also announced temporary suspension of their respective operations from Maundy Thursday and Easter Sunday. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
