Concessionary beep card issuance on hold starting March 30, 2026
The issuance of the concessionary beep card will be on hold until further notice, starting Monday, March 30, AF Payments Inc. announced Thursday.
In a social media post, the company said the suspension comes after a decline in the number of concessionary beep cards issued in recent months and the recent 50% fare discount implemented in Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) and Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) rides.
“Please stand by for further announcements regarding the new process for concessionary beep™ cards,” AF Payments Inc. said.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) implemented a 50% discount on train rides at MRT-3 and LRT-2 starting March 23.
Moreover, the 50% discount being enjoyed by white Beep card holders—senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWD), and students—is still in effect.
Meanwhile, the DOTr is currently in talks with the management of Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1), which is being operated by private firm Light Rail Manila Corporation, to extend a similar discount for passengers using their line.
In April 2025, LRT-1 implemented fare increases.
Based on the approved revised fare matrix, the maximum fare of P45 for a single journey end-to-end trip will go up to P55 while the minimum fare will increase from P15 to P20. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BM, GMA Integrated News
