WALANG PASOK: Class suspensions after magnitude 5.6 earthquake off Davao Occidental (Oct. 8, 2026)

The magnitude 5.6 earthquake that struck off Balut Island in Sarangani, Davao Occidental, on Thursday afternoon prompted the suspension of classes and government work.

In a Facebook post, the General Santos City government announced the suspension of classes at all levels in both public and private schools “until further notice.”

Work in all government offices in the city was also suspended to allow authorities to conduct structural inspections and safety assessments following the earthquake, the local government unit said.
