WALANG PASOK Palace suspends gov't work, classes Opong

Malacañang has announced the suspension of work in government offices and classes at all levels in the following areas on Sept. 25, 2025 due to the expected rain caused by Severe Tropical Storm Opong.

These areas are Sorsogon, Masbate, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar.

Classes at all levels are suspended in Quezon, Marinduque, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Samar, and Biliran to ensure public safety.

"However, agencies responsible for basic, vital, and health services, preparedness, and response duties must continue to remain operational to ensure continuity of essential government functions," Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said in Memorandum Circular No. 101.

He added that non-essential government employees may work under approved alternative arrangements, subject to applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Bersamin also said local chief executives in other regions may implement cancellation or suspension of classes and/or work in government offices, in accordance with relevant laws, rules, and regulations.

Meanwhile, suspension of work in private companies and offices is subject to the discretion of their respective heads.

At 2 p.m., Opong was located 705 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.

Signal No. 2 is hoisted in San Policarpo, Oras, Jipapad, and Arteche towns in Eastern Samar. –NB, GMA Integrated News
