WALANG PASOK: Class, work suspension in Sultan Kudarat for Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026
Classes in the entire province of Sultan Kudarat have been suspended starting Thursday, January 22, 2026, due to the "continuing seismic activity," according to a social media post by Governor Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu.
The governor also announced the suspension of work in government offices in the towns of Kalamasig, Lebak and Palimbang amid the series of earthquakes on Tuesday.
The rest of the province will adopt a blended work-from-home arrangement, the provincial office also said.
The class and work suspensions will be in effect "until further notice."
"Everyone is advised to stay safe, exercise caution, and monitor official announcements for updates," Mangudadatu said.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology recorded 400 back-to-back earthquakes in a span of three days at Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat.
According to PHIVOLCS, the weak to moderate earthquakes were recorded between 10:52 p.m. on January 19 to 1:00 p.m. on January 21.
A total of 135 out of 400 earthquakes were plotted with magnitudes ranging from 1.5 to 5.2.
Meanwhile, 20 earthquakes were felt by the public and recorded with specific intensities. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
