Wacky Kiray, Donita Nose weigh on 'bakla-baklaan' content on social media

Wacky Kiray and Donita Nose said they don’t see anything wrong with straight content creators doing “bakla-baklaan” content on social media.

During their guesting on “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda” on Thursday, the comedians said they are not offended by this type of content, as long as it brings fun and happiness to netizens.

“I’m not offended, as long as you just know how to handle your portrayal of being gay. As long as you’re not stepping on us, so to speak. Don’t do anything that would make us look bad,” Wacky said in Filipino.

The comedian pointed out that such portrayals are not new.

“Even before social media, it was already being done," he said. "When Tito Dolphy would portray a gay character, we were all entertained."

Donita meanwhile stressed that such content becomes problematic when it is used to hurt, insult, or negatively portray the LGBTQ+ community.

“I don’t see anything wrong with it, Tito Boy," she began.

"If it’s for content that will make people happy, then why not, right? Go ahead and do it. It’s okay because you’re making a lot of people happy,” she said.

“But if your content is meant to hurt gay people, insult us, or portray our identity in a negative way, that’s wrong.”
