Angelica Jones recalls being courted by Win Gatchalian when she was 22
Angelica Jones revealed that Senate President Win Gatchalian courted her when she was 22 years old.
During the Fast Talk segment of Tuesday’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Angelica was asked about a politician who had courted her in the past. The politician was described as someone who is now a senator and had previously served as mayor and congressman.
The politician turned out to be Gatchalian.
“It was a long time ago. I was still young then. I was young, when I was 22. Former councilor Bobby Yan’ became my boyfriend first. It was a long time ago. I was still young,” Angelica said in a mix of Filipino and English.
She said her mother would always accompany her on dates because she was very protective.
“Councilor Bobby Yan became my boyfriend first, when I was 21. But we were together for three years, although we really didn’t get to be alone because my mom was very strict. And at that time, when Senator Win was courting me, when we would go on dates, my mom was always with me,” she said.
Angelica recalled Gatchalian telling her, “How are you going to have a boyfriend? Your mother is always following you.”
Asked if Win eventually became her official boyfriend, Angelica clarified that they never reached that point.
“No. We never reached that point because at that time, my mom was very overprotective. I couldn’t go out by myself. We did go out and had a dinner date, but my mom was with me.”
Angelica is currently a member of the Laguna Provincial Board from the Third District.
In the 2000s, she had the moniker “Miss Flawless.”
