RK Bagatsing has no plans to enter politics, says he's not qualified
Although he comes from a family with history in politics, RK Bagatsing has no plans to become a politician himself.
On "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" on Thursday, RK joked that he already played a mayor on TV before.
"But my personal opinion—this is just me—honestly, I don't think I'm qualified," RK said in a mix of Filipino and English.
He added that the world of showbiz is totally different from politics.
"In being an artist, when you mess up a line, you lose an emotion, you can ask for take two. In politics, I don't think a take two is allowed. When you mess up, lives are at stake, people's futures are at stake," RK said.
"I'd rather be a faithful storyteller instead in shows rather than an incompetent leader, so my answer now is a no," the actor added.
RK is the younger brother of actor Raymond Bagatsing, who ran for Manila mayor in the 2025 elections. Raymond placed fourth in the race, which was won by Isko Moreno.
RK and Raymond's grandfather, Ramon Bagatsing, was the longest serving mayor of Manila. He held the position from 1972 to 1986.
RK is part of the cast of "Honor Thy Mother," which stars Sharon Cuneta, Barbie Forteza, Khalil Ramos, and more.
A story of family conflict and the complexities of relationships, "Honor Thy Mother" is a collaboration of three media giants, GMA Network, ABS-CBN, and Prime Video. —Nika Roque/MGP, GMA News
