Actor-director David Chua has revealed that his supposed girlfriend, Sophia Moretti, is an artificial intelligence (AI)-generated character created as part of a social media experiment.

In a report by GMA News Feed, Chua first introduced Moretti on Instagram in September, sharing photos of their seemingly sweet moments together.

As the posts continued, their interactions appeared to become increasingly intimate, with Chua eventually sharing what looked like a marriage proposal.

The posts caught the attention of netizens, some of whom questioned whether Moretti was a real person because of her mysterious identity.

Chua later clarified that Moretti was not a real person but an AI-generated character, explaining that the project began out of curiosity about artificial intelligence.

What started as an experiment eventually became a creative outlet for the actor-director, allowing him to explore new ways of creating content and rediscover the joy of being creative.

Chua also shared how the experience helped him regain a sense of freedom and enjoyment in his personal life after going through difficult experiences.

“I think I finally reached a point where I could enjoy life again without feeling like I constantly had something to prove. After everything that happened, I needed to find my footing again,” Chua said.

Beyond the social media experiment, Chua sees AI as a technology that could open more opportunities for filmmakers and other content creators.

As a filmmaker himself, he believes AI can help people turn their ideas into reality, particularly those who may not have access to extensive resources or the equipment needed to produce their projects.

He hopes the technology will empower more aspiring storytellers to create content and make films despite financial or resource limitations.

However, Chua emphasized that artificial intelligence should not replace human creativity. Instead, he believes it should be used as a tool to enhance creators’ abilities and help them bring their artistic visions to life.
