Vince Maristela proud of first queer pageantry experience on 'It's Showtime'
Vince Maristela recently went viral after joining the "Miss Q and A: Reyna ng Talak-Era Celebrity Edition" segment of "It's Showtime" as Disney Vincess Maristela Araneta Siguion Reyna.
In an interview with Nelson Canlas in "24 Oras" on Thursday, Vince revealed that it was his first time participating in a queer pageant.
"It's a wonderful experience because I learned so much from 'Miss Q and A.' First of all, I got to experience wearing a gown and heels," he said.
"I'm very proud of myself for being able to join queer pageantry. You can judge 'Miss Q and A,' but you haven't actually been a contestant. I gained so much knowledge just by participating," he said.
To prepare for the competition, Vince did his research, including learning about issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community.
"I did my research. I learned that there's an SOGIE bill for the LGBTQ+ community, and I think my participation was really about embracing the community," he said.
Vince competed alongside fellow Sparkle star Ralph Miaco and fellow ex-PBB housemates Ralph de Leon and River Joseph. "It's Showtime" host Ryan Bang was also among the contestants.
The Kapuso actor currently appears in the GMA Afternoon Prime series "Delivery Boi" starring Will Ashley and Mika Salamanca.
