Derrick Monasterio joins 'Born to Shine'

Derrick Monasterio is the latest celebrity guest in "Born to Shine."

According to Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras" Thursday, he plays the role of a theater director in the series.

"There are montage scenes where I teach them the proper way to do things, so at least I get to apply what I know," he said in Filipino and English.

"It's like it's bringing me back to my theater roots, I miss it," he added.

His role is pivotal as his character will be the one to give a new opportunity to Dara, played by Vina Morales. This is Derrick's first time working with the actress.

"She's very professional. Before we started, she spoke to me and told me not to feel awkward around her and she really talked to me so we could familiarize ourselves with each other," he said.

Meanwhile, "Born to Shine" girl group Yumi had a crossover in the GMA Prime series "Taskforce Firewall."

In the crossover, the girl group performed at a club, where the Firewall team was carrying out an undercover operation.

"Born to Shine" airs Mondays to Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. on GMA Afternoon Prime, while "Taskforce Firewall" airs Mondays to Fridays at 8:50 p.m. on GMA Prime.
