Ninang Miriam's marriage advice to Chiz and Heart

"Be kind."

 

This was Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago's marital advice to fellow lawmaker Chiz Escudero and bride-to-be Heart Evangelista during the launch of her humor book "Stupid is Forever" at National Bookstore Trinoma on Wednesday.

 

Miriam, who will be serve as principal sponsor at wedding on February 15 — the day after her shared birthday with Heart — will not be in attendance.

 

"Hindi siguro ako makakapunta, sinabi ko na, dahil ang kasal nila ay doon sa Balesin Island," the senator explained at the impromptu press conference toward the tail-end of the launch. 

 

"Nahihirapan ako magbiyahe sa eroplano kaya nga I haven’t been out of the country for almost a year now. It’s bad for my health."

 

Last June, Miriam announced that she had been diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. Her cancer is now in remission.

 

Miriam had played a crucial role in the romance, setting up the first date between the couple in 2012. Chiz proposed to Heart last August. — JST, GMA News
