Kalyeserye characters a huge hit at cosplay event

Mula sa iba't ibang merchandise gaya ng t-shirt, ballpen, at kung ano-ano pa hanggang sa mga awitin at artworks, hindi maitatanggi ang inspirasyong naibibigay ng phenomenal love team na AlDub sa kanilang fans.

 

Kamakailan lamang, bumida na rin ang AlDub at sina Lola Nidora, Tidora, at Tinidora sa cosplay event nitong Oktubre na binansagang Cosplay Mania 2015 matapos silang bigyang buhay ng ilang volunteers ng Asia Pop Comicon.

 

Kabilang sa mga gumanap sina Raye Bangsal bilang Yaya Dub, Joni bilang Lola Nidora, Esce bilang Lola Tidora, Madet bilang Lola Tinidora, at Prince Balacadia bilang Rogelio, kasama si Chiqui Perezz bilang kanilang make up artist at wardrobe consultant.

 

 

 

 

Ayon sa mga cosplayers, nauna na nilang binalak ang pagganap bilang cast ng Kalyeserye bilang isang social experiment, at tinawag pa itong 'AlDub Cosplay Pa More.'

 

“My friends and I decided to do a 'social experiment' out of curiosity. We wanted to know how Pinoy pop culture has made such a great impact on the Filipinos, specifically in other ways of expression, such as cosplay, and debut it in an appropriate event: Cosplay Mania 2015,” paliwanag ni Chiqui Perez, make up artist at wardrobe consultant ng cosplay group.

 

Dagdag pa ni Joni, saktong-sakto raw na kahawig ng kaibigan nilang si Raye si Yaya Dub kaya naman naisipan nilang bumuo ng isang malaking cosplay group para buuin ang ilan sa mga sikat na cast ng Kalyeserye.

 

Hindi raw nila inaasahan na magiging mainit ang pagtanggap ng mga tao sa kanilang cosplay, lalo na't ilan lamang sila sa mga naunang mag-cosplay sa mga karakter ng Kalyeserye.

 

Bukod sa social experiment, nais lamang din daw ng grupo na magbigay-pugay sa Kalyeserye dahil sila rin mismo ay fans nito.

 

Ayon kay Raye, “This is my first cosplay and I never realized it would be such a hit since our aim on cosplaying Kalyeserye was for fun and not fame.”

 

“There was just something absolutely phenomenal about the show, that we wanted to see how people would respond to seeing a bunch of ordinary folks dressed up as some of their fave characters. There has never been a cosplay group that's based on a local TV show (that's not comic hero-centric) before so we took a chance at something new & different. It was a risk to do it, but we took as a challenge, which thankfully paid off very well,” dagdag pa ni Joni.

 

Bilang cosplayers, malaking karangalan raw para sa kanila ang makakita ng positibong reaksyon mula sa mga nakakakita sa kanila, at bukod sa mga pagngiti at pagkamangha, marami rin ang hindi napigilang magpakuha ng litrato sa kanila.

 

Dahil dito, sinubukan nilang maging in-character sa kabuuan ng cosplay event. Sa katunayan, bukod sa hindi pagsasalita ni Yaya Dub, handa rin daw silang lahat na magsayaw sa oras na patugtugin ang ilan sa mga dance song sa Kalyeserye tulad ng Mambo No. 5, Fantastic Baby, at Dessert.

 

Ayon kay Prince Balacadia na gumanap bilang Rogelio, “I get a kick when you see people change their facial expressions from the first look to their realization varying from the most neutral look, a simple smile, to wide-eyed amazement. Pretty much most people recognize our group and wanted to have their picture taken with us cosplayers and non-cosplayers alike.”

 

“More than half of us are really new to cosplaying actually. I just realized that this is what really cosplaying is. What's more is that when cosplaying something really popular, we get this. For me, it was a unique and fun experience,” dagdag pa niya.

 

Dahil bago ang ideya na ito sa mundo ng cosplay, inaasahan na raw nila ang ilang bashers pagdating sa event, ngunit puro paghanga lamang ang natanggap nila mula sa mga kasamahan sa Cosplay Mania.

 

Paliwanag ni Chiqui, “We had only two guesses from the beginning: either our attempt will fail or fly. We know that there are fans who are possessive of the 'original thing' and might find our attempts a sorry imitation, and more so if we didn’t properly bring the characters to life. However, we were sincerely overwhelmed with the success our experiment. We are very glad to know that the public thinks that what we have done was proper homage to the characters.

 

“It was just so heartwarming to be able to bring a bit of joy into their lives, even for one brief moment. We were so prepared to accept the 'rejection' from the crowd, so to witness them being so excited to see us was such a delightful surprise," dagdag pa ni Joni.

 

Sa huli, nagpasalamat ang grupo sa Eat Bulaga dahil sa kakaibang karanasan nila kasabay ng pagco-cosplay ng phenomenal cast ng Kalyeserye.
