Kuya Germs' family asks for donations to Kapuso Foundation

Instead of sending flowers, the family of television icon German Moreno is asking friends and fans to donate instead to the GMA Kapuso Foundation, the charity arm of GMA Network.

Kuya Germs' oldest son Federico made the request in a live interview on Friday on "24 Oras."

"It's better," said Federico. "We're expecting many flowers. Sayang."

Kuya Germs became one of the most influential persons in Philippine show business after spending the past for his long association with GMA Network.

He was known as a star builder in his youth-oriented show in the 1980s called "That's Entertainment" and the Sunday variety show "GMA Super Show."

More recently, he has hosted "Walang Tulugan" on the network and a radio show on dzBB.

His last public appearance came on New Year's Day during the network's countdown show.
