Sharon Cuneta praises ‘Tatay Digong’ on Instagram for video message

Politics took a backseat to personal ties over the weekend, as megastar Sharon Cuneta posted on her Instagram a video message from President Rodrigo Duterte, whom she showered with praise after receiving some of good words of his own.

Cuneta, the wife of Liberal Party president and opposition leader Senator Francis Pangilinan, called Duterte her "Tatay Digong", the term of endearment reserved by staunch supporters for the Chief Executive.

The showbiz personality, nonetheless, made the post "with due respect to my husband who so understands my 'wala akong pakialam sa politika' stand."

"I got this precious gift of a message (taken a few evenings ago) from President Rodrigo Duterte himself!!!" Cuneta said of Duterte's message, in which he said his daughter Sara had chosen the right person "to be her inspiration."

Duterte in his speeches has said that the Davao City mayor was a fan of Cuneta and that he was so appreciative of Pangilinan when he arranged that Sara and Sharon meet.

Cuneta said she and Sara had been friends since 2012. —NB, GMA News
