At the Asian press conference of "Aquaman" on Tuesday afternoon at the Grand Hyatt Manila, Jason said being in the Philippines resonates with him and the film's Malaysian director James Wan.

Moderated by host Joey Mead King, Jason sat down for a chat with his “Aquaman” co-star Amber Heard (Mera).

"I mean for me and James, I think it kinda resonates for us  because of our nationality," Momoa told the press.

Momoa who is of Hawaiian descent said Filipinos outnumbered Hawaiians in his home country and so he thinks of Pinoys as family.

"As far as I'm concerned, Philippines is like the tenth island from Hawaii. There [are] more Filipinos in Hawaii than Hawaiians so we're kinda basically family."

As someone who shares almost the same history and mythology with Filipinos, he said being in the Philippines is an honor.

"I feel it's an honor to be here and then also to represent someone who, we have the  same mythology, we have the same history and James too, so we kinda come from two different worlds, it's very important, for me"

At the fan event at the Mall of Asia Entertainment Hall on the same day, Jason met with his Filipino fans who all went crazy over seeing the “Atlantean” star.

“I’ve never felt this loved in my life,” Jason told the crowd. — LA, GMA News
