Aicelle Santos bags award during 11th Philstage Gawad Buhay

Aicelle Santos won the award for Outstanding Female Lead Performance in a Musical, for her performance as Elsa in “Himala: Isang Musikal” at the 11th Philstage Gawad Buhay Awards.

It is one of the slew of awards that “Himala: Isang Musikal” won on Tuesday night at Onstage Theater in Greenbelt 1, Makati.

“Ang gampanan si Elsa at maging bahagi ng produksyong punong-puno ng puso at pagmamahal, sa harap at likod ng entablado ay napakalaki ng tagumpay at karangalan,” Aicelle said in social media on Wednesday morning.

Apart from Aicelle’s award, Himala won seven other awards: Best in Lighting Design, Best in Costume Design, Best in Set Design, Best Director of a Musical, Best Featured Actress in a Musical, Best Ensemble Performance, and Best Musical.

“Himala: Isang Musikal,” which celebrates the 15th anniversary of “Himala” the musical, which premiered in 2003, is based on the 1982 film written by Ricky Lee.

At the press preview of the play in 2018, no less than the original Elsa, Nora Aunor, gave an enthusiastic nod to Aicelle and the rest of the cast. 

"Himala: Isang Musikal" is a co-production of The Sandbox Collective and 9 Works Theatrical. It will have another run starting September 2019. — LA, GMA News
