What StarStruck council members Heart Evangelista, Cherie Gil and Jose Manalo are looking for in potential stars
StarStruck council members Heart Evangelista, Cherie Gil and Jose Manalo said they are looking for authenticity and talent more than good looks.

At the StarStruck media conference on Monday evening, the council was asked by the press if they believed in "star quality."
According to Heart, the star quality of a person is his/her "authenticity."
"Beauty and good looks, anybody can be famous on social media but then I think it’s really their authenticity as an individual, as a person that sets them apart," Heart began.
The Kapuso Queen of Creative Collaborations said it's a person's confidence and sense of being that could spell the difference: "I guess there’s something special about them, not necessarily looks. Just the way they walk into a room and the way they carry themselves."
She said she would want to invest herself in "those kinds of individuals who are very comfortable about themselves, maybe shy for now but 'may sense of being ‘tong taong ‘to'."
Cherie agreed with Heart and said in the age of social media it's easy to spot someone who is fake. "Kailangan talaga deretso, real. There are a few of them who are really shining kaya ang hirap to make a choice."
Jose, meanwhile said there are hopefuls who have him looking twice, but what's more important for him is the way they move and they way they present themselves.
"Minsan talaga mapapatingin ka. Kaya minsan ‘pag nagsalita na, kumilos na, nag-talent na, so ‘yon na ‘yong pinagbabasehan... ‘Yong pagtayo lang ba nang ganon o ‘yong kailangan may made-develop pa sa kanila na magiging star talaga sila."

Looks or talent
All three of them agreed that talent is a more important quality than looks.
Cherie admitted she had high expectations at first looking for a star potential who knows how to sing, dance and act, "but we know that they have a potential in one area that can still be grown to be developed in the other areas."
The actor believes looks will follow if the potential, if the talent enough.
"Matindi para sa kin ‘yong talento. If it goes well with her or his looks then why not? Then he’s the lucky one, but once the potential, lalabas din ‘yong pagkagwapo at pagkaganda niya eh, para sa 'kin."
Being the hilarious man that he is, Jose joked and made fun of his own looks as he answered, " Marami, marami. Lalo na ‘pag ako tinanong mo eh talent ako, ganito itsura talent agad."
In a more serious note, Jose said looks can change but talent is harder to fix and develop.
"‘Yong itsura kasi puwedeng ayusin ‘yan pero ‘yong talent na ganyan kahit anong sabihin natin kahit gaano kagandang lalake kahit gaano kagwapo or ka-ganda ng babae pero ‘yong talent mahirap isaksak ‘yan," he said.
