Interview in May showed 90-year-old Eddie Garcia had no plans of retiring

Eddie Garcia had no plans of retiring from showbiz even at 90 years old and almost seven decades in the industry.

According to Lhar Santiago's report on "24 Oras", Garcia said in an interview in May that retirement would only bore him.

"Hanggang, ah, gusto pa ako ng tao. Hanggang kaya ko pa," Garcia said when asked about retirement.

"Dahil if I retire now, I'll just get bored," he added.

Garcia bagged a 45th award for his craft in both acting and directing just days before he passed away on Thursday.

"Acting is just a job. You do it well and you will be rewarded," Garcia said.

"An actor is always an actor... Para sa akin, kahit anong role na ibigay sa akin, kahit gaano kaliit, pagbutihin mo because it will be the best recommendation for another job," he added.

Garcia was known for his professionalism even if he was taking on more than one project at a given time.

"Halimbawa, may dalawa kang project na sabay. Gagawa ka ng calendar, oo," Garcia said.

"Iko-color code mo. Bigyan kita ng three days dito, three days diyan. Tapos ibibigay mo sa assistant director," he added.

"O, sundan mo lang 'yan at hindi tayo maliligaw," Garcia said. —NB, GMA News
